Butterfly Notebook Cover

I made this cute mini notebook cover as a gift.
The cover is made of a very nice fabric with vintage inspired print, it is really soft- it has a piece of wadding inside, this cover can be removed. The butterfly is actually a hand printed brooch that can be unpinned.

Hand printed table napins

Hello,

I've been hand printing a lot as usual. This time I made the printed fabrics into cloth napkins.

Screen printed Rose & Heart (using Mylar stencil):

These can be purchased HERE

Block (rubber and lino) printed Blue Flowers:

These can be purchased HERE

That's all the designs I have for now. Both sets are very different, bright and vibrant rose design, the other more with subtle and cheerful blue and orange print. Designs for every mood I guess ^_^

Have I already mentioned that I LOVE hand printing??

DIY Sewing Project

Generally I am a very organised person but at the same time as a contradiction I also am a collector. There were times when I moved flats as often every 6 months and as I packed discovered clothes I forgot I had I couldn't bring myself to throw them away as I hoped I would still wear them. I don't fool myself anymore and what I started doing recently is what I haven't worn for a while gets taken up to my studio where creativity happens, things get altered. Some of them I simply keep for their fabric others get recycled into something new and wearable, not always turning out how I imagined but more often than not I become a very happy owner of a 'new' piece of clothing without spending a penny. In moments like these I thank myself for being such a collector!

This is what I've done to a sweater that just didn't do it for me anymore:

I wanted to make a mini skirt warm enough to wear in those cold months to come. I measured how long I wanted it to be then cut.

I finished the raw edge with a zigzag stitch to prevent it from fraying. I then measured my waist and cut the right amount of thick black elastic. I joined the edges and stitched to create a band.

I then pinned the skirt onto the elastic band and stitched with a zigzag stitched around, I did it twice to make it super strong. I used zigzag stitch as it is much stronger and suitable for a stretchy fabric which it was.

And ready!

In colder months I really love to wear arm warmers and I I have them in various colours, most of them made from sleeves of old sweaters and this is what I've done with the sleeves here too.

Just need to make a casing and insert a thin piece of elastic so that my arm warmers will stay in place when I wear them^_^

What about you, do you tend to keep your unworn clothes for years and years promising yourself that you would wear them again..next summer, this fall..? Or do you recycle them like I now do? I would love to see what you come up with.

In the celebration of autumn

I fell in love with this orange/  teracotta/ dark peach ( (call it what you like) colour.
And no doubt as autumn can be felt in the air more and more, it is the perfect colour for this season too, isn't it??
I know it's cold and rains a lot more but on days when the sun shines and we find ourselves wrapped in the autumn blanket in the shaded of orange/ red/ yellow/ brown , you have to admit that really is something quite beautiful.
I was born in autumn maybe that's why the scenery appeals to me so much. I love it^_^

Anyway as a continuation of my recent animal print orange covers, this time I came up with screen printed polka dot and block stamped flower cushion covers.
And they are quite pretty, aren't they?
Each cover measures 16'' x 16'' and the insert size needed for them is 18'' x 18''.
